Motivation and Passion are the ingredients to achieve your goals

Stephen R. Covey once said, "Motivation is fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly." Ever felt the adrenaline rush, when you are sketching or working out some complex algorithms. You don't feel hungry or sleepy then, you just want to complete it to perfection. Passion has no other definition, if you are wise enough you know what your true calling is. Sometimes under the pretext of peer pressure or your ignorance you turn a blind eye towards your most passionate skills. That's when you need to seek for motivation, either you could find means to be self motivated or if you are fortunate, your family or friends can be your driving force.

Importance of motivation

Motivation is the essence of life. It is not necessarily career centric, even a person who met a fatal accident and confined to wheel chair excel in all walks of life. What is needed for each individual to excel is sheer motivation, instilling a Can-do attitude. You could read volumes of self help books, but few lines from your friend might be the catalyst to push you to initiate your much dreamed startup. Let us not dig into the complexities of human life. Simply waking up in the morning, requires you need to be motivated, either to go to work to make your ends meet or to study hard for a brighter future. We need to be motivated every hour and every day to be successful.

Factors that affect motivation and career success.

There has been an exponential growth in the number of depression hit individuals and even young adults committing suicides due to increased stress and peer pressure. What is the underlying fact is that increasingly people are not motivated and hence they take such drastic steps. It is practically impossible to have each day bright and sunny, you will have to face rains and even thunderstorms on your way towards building your career. Anytime you feel dejected, remind yourself, "There is always light at the end of the tunnel." If you are passionate and motivated, even the worst setbacks won?t deter you from reaching your goals. In this day and age of social media, when people are judged on the number of likes, it is natural to succumb to peer pressure. Your friend posting about his business trips all across the globe doesn?t come across as a motivation, in fact it makes you sulk. It's all about aligning your thoughts in the right direction. Let us see how

1. Readjust your focus

Make a conscience effort to look at the brighter side of things, when one door closes another open, be wise to notice the door opened for you. Comparison with your peers could be positive if it leads to healthy competition, however if it is leading to anxiety and stress, you cannot afford to spend your time and energy on it. Be realistic and set goals as per your skill sets and ambitions. Success might not come at the first attempt. As the wise men once said, "It is not how hard you fall, it is how fast you rise". Roll up your sleeves and kick start once again.

2. Identify your greatest sources of inspiration and motivation.

For some, books by great philosophers can be a source or inspiration while for others it might be a day of solace is all they need to rekindle their energies. What ignites you, find it. Your daily grind of bouts of success and failure would leave you with little time to sit back and read something to keep yourself motivated each passing day. Spare sometime each day either when you are travelling or waiting in a queue, to read a inspirational quote, that would make an iota of difference, but ultimately every bit counts. ?Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.? Oprah Winfrey. You don't have to follow passion, it follows you and drives you to greater achievements.
